Beautiful photographs of houses for sale, apartments, villas and mansions. While some homes cost a
great deal of money, even the most expensive or largest homes have been saved by tasteful touches. We were not
surprised to discover that the most beautiful homes were those that were modest, that seemed to fit into their
surroundings. After Antequera became part of the Kingdom of Castile, the Muslims were driven out. The city became a
Catholic fortress against the Muslim Nasrid kingdom of Granada, and a base for continuing conquest. After Granada,
the last Moorish city, capitulated in 1492, Antequera began to recover from the centuries of fighting, and the
population increased from 2,000 to almost 15,000 in twenty years. Antequera's annual fair takes place third week in
August. There is also an important agricultural fair in the first week of June with horses and other livestock. We
witnessed first-hand the Semana Santa processions in the town, which occur every Easter, when Antequera explodes
into colour. Many traces of the Roman era remain, both in Antequera proper and in the nearby towns of Arastepi and
Singilia Barba, which are considered among the most important of Roman Málaga. The city has a myriad of
restaurants and cafés which cater for all tastes and all budgets. You can savour traditional Spanish fare such as
Tapas, paella and chicken; those who have a more discerning palate can opt for a range of international cuisines
including British, French and Italian.

In Antequera, there is also a Giants’ Gateway and the La Pileta cave, whose walls are covered in magnificent
paintings of animals and symbols, unknown in the present day. Less than 1km from the historical city of Antequera
are two sites containing three of the best conserved dolmens to be found in Spain. They are the dolmens of Viera
and Menga and a short distance away from El Romeral. Tests date them between 2000bc and 3750bc.
